ABOUT US

ABOUT IAN

The association was established in Newcastle in1972 by the name “India Club Newcastle”. In 1979, it was renamed as “Indian Association of Newcastle”. With an ever increasing migration since that time, the association has grown bigger each year.

It is a non-profit organisation representing the interests of Hunter residents with an Indian Heritage. The association promotes the vibrant diversity inherent to Indian culture in art, music, dance and culinary skills. It not only provides a platform to showcase Indian art and culture but also endeavors to foster healthy networking among its membership.

At the same time, IAN recognizes the importance of its members adapting well to the Australian way of life as critical to their social and emotional well-being. Our members form a considerable proportion of professionals as well as small business owners who have made a new home in Australia.

The members of the association form a significant workforce in the region in various industries including mining, software, health and education.
